Candles With A Cause.
Sydney’s chronic migraines sparked more than a business — they ignited a mission to inform, support, and inspire change.

What started with migraines became something more ...
Since I was 8 or 9 years old, I’ve had migraines — you know, those “little” head storms that show up uninvited to ruin every party.

What started out as occasional sick days in school, canceled social gatherings, and some missed workdays turned into a chronic, debilitating, and lifelong condition that has taken over every aspect of my life. I live and breathe thinking about how every small decision will impact my migraines—either positively or negatively. And the thing that tops it all off? It’s all invisible. From the outside, I might look totally fine, but inside, it’s a very different (not so cute and would not recommend) migraine vibe.
One of the most challenging aspects of chronic migraine has been not being believed—especially by doctors. I’ve lost count of how many times I was told it was just stress, poor diet, or that I needed to “drink more water” or “wake up early.” Because I looked okay, they assumed I was okay, and that kind of dismissal can really wear you down—especially when you’re already exhausted from the chronic pain.
So if you’re going through something similar and also have the unfortunate task of surviving with chronic migraine—I get it, and I see you. Hi, I’m Sydney.
Understanding Migraines.
Migraines are not just “bad headaches.” They are a complex neurological disorder that affects over one billion people worldwide. Common symptoms include intense head pain, nausea, visual disturbances, and extreme sensitivity to light, sound, and scent.
While many experience occasional migraines, chronic migraines — defined as having 15 or more headache days per month — affect only 2.2% of the population. This small group faces ongoing and often invisible challenges that significantly impact daily life.
How Migraines Impact Lives.
For those with chronic migraines, daily tasks can become unpredictable. The pain can force people to cancel plans, miss work, or avoid light, noise, and scents altogether. The emotional toll is just as heavy— living with a condition that flares up without warning makes it difficult to hold steady employment, socialize, or plan ahead. Sydney knows this experience firsthand.
Hope for the Future: Research & Treatments
While there’s still no cure for migraines, research has come a long way. Scientists are gaining a better understanding of the neurological causes and exploring more targeted ways to manage symptoms through ongoing studies and emerging therapies.
For Sydney, and others living with chronic migraines, this progress offers hope — not just for relief, but for the chance to build a more stable, fulfilling life. Luxnglow was created by her dad, who believed in her and in the reality of her illness. His support — and the flexibility this business provides— made it possible for her to keep working in a way that respects her health and well-being.

Scent Aware Design.
Living with migraines or scent sensitivities often means avoiding candles altogether — but Sydney didn’t think that was fair. She believed that everyone deserves to enjoy the warmth and calm of candlelight, without compromising their well-being.
We offer three scent levels so you can choose what’s best for your body and space.

Working Towards Migraine Research and Awareness with the Children’s Health Foundation

We believe in more than just making candles — we want to make a difference. That’s why we actively sought out partnerships with organizations dedicated to migraine research and support.
We’re proud to have recently partnered with the Children’s Health Foundation, a not-for-profit organization that funds cutting-edge equipment, care-enhancing programs, and groundbreaking paediatric research for the Children’s Hospital in London, Thames Valley Children’s Center, and the Children’s Health Research Institute — including vital research into migraines. Their work plays a crucial role in identifying early symptoms and improving treatment for children who are often overlooked or dismissed.
Sydney’s journey reflects this reality. Had her symptoms been identified earlier, her struggle with chronic migraines might have been lessened. Through our partnerships, we hope to raise awareness and help create a future where every child feels seen, heard, and properly cared for.
Children’s Health Foundation is funded entirely by donations. To support their work, select “CHF” from the fundraiser dropdown at checkout — a portion of your purchase will be directed towards Dr. Marissa Lagman’s Paediatric Headache and Migraine Clinic at Children’s Hospital in London, Ontario.
